We're IG Rescue and we're

passionate about saving dogs!

The Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation (IGRF) is a NATIONAL federally designated 501C3 non-profit organization.  It sponsors a re-homing service that is provided for Italian Greyhounds that have been abandoned at animal shelters, taken from abusive homes or surrendered to Rescue due to the death or divorce of the former owner.  Occasionally, dogs are turned over to Rescue because the owner can no longer keep the dog and the dog was acquired from a source to which it cannot be returned.  Our volunteers foster these dogs in their own homes.

We are not a kennel or shelter. Our foster dogs are health and temperament evaluated and the dogs are loved and treated as our own dogs. All rescues are taken for a veterinary check-up and when necessary, vaccinations are updated, spayed/neutered and dental health is addressed. Each Italian Greyhound is evaluated so that it can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and the new owner.

IGRF is also an all-volunteer organization.  Prospective adopters are required to fill out a short application and go through an interview process, including a home check.  This home check is NOT intended to criticize anyone’s home.  We don’t check in corners for dust.  It is for the benefit of the new owner and for the benefit of the dog who will be moving into that home.   At the time of placement, the adoptee is required to sign a simple adoption contract. A donation is requested at the time of placement, which is returned to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation to provide medical care for future rescue dogs.
